Day 1. 22-09-2019 – MALTA / LISBON / FÁTIMA (D)
Departure Malta: Air Malta MALTA-LISBON 12.15 – 14.20
Arrival to LISBON Airport.
Welcome by a local agent representative.
Transfer to the hotel in Fátima for dinner and accommodation.
Day 2. 23-09-2019 – FÁTIMA (B, L, D)
Breakfast at the hotel. Free time in Fatima for religious cerimonies. Lunch in a local restaurant. After lunch we do the Way of the Cross (Via Sagra) to Aljustrel and visit the house of the three shepherd children. Free time in Aljustrel. Return to Fátima and free time for shopping in the city. You will find several shops with all kinds of items and symbols of the Christian faith. Return to hotel for dinner. Free time after dinner. Return to your hotel and overnight.
Day 3. 24-09-2019 – FÁTIMA / BATALHA / NAZARÉ / ALCOBAÇA/ FÁTIMA (B, D)
Breakfast at the hotel. This day includes a visit to two major monuments classified as World Heritage by UNESCO. In Batalha, you will have the opportunity to explore the Church of the Monastery of Santa Maria da Vitoria, whose construction began in 1386, to celebrate the victory of Portugal over the Kingdom of Castile (SPAIN) during the Battle of Aljubarrota, on August 14, 1385. The you will proceed to Nazaré, a fishing village where you can still see fishermen dressed in plaid shirts and black pants, and their wives still wear the seven traditional colourful skirts – people say they represent the seven virtues, the seven days of the week, the seven colours of the rainbow and the seven waves of the sea. Free time for lunch. Next, you will go to Sítio promontory, from where you will enjoy the magnificent view over the city and the sea. In Alcobaça, you will visit the Church of the Monastery or Royal Abbey of Santa Maria, where you will find the tombs of Dom Pedro and Dona Ines de Castro, who were the protagonists of one of the most famous love stories of the European Middle Ages history. Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 4. 25-09-2019 – FÁTIMA / COIMBRA / PORTO / FÁTIMA (B, L, D)
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure to Coimbra for a panoramic tour of the University City that dominates the Mondego River. The ancient capital of Portugal has inspired many poets who have elected it as the city of “Arts and Letters”. In Coimbra you will find one of the oldest University in Europe. You will continue your tour towards the “Baixa” lower town (center). Departure to PORTO for a visit of the Capital of the North of Portugal. We will start with a panoramic tour of the city which will allow you to see its most important sites and monuments: the church of the Torre dos Clérigos (entrance not included), baroque church of Nicolau Nasoni, São Bento Train Station known by its 20,000 azulejos (tiles), painted by João Colaço, which illustrates scenes of the traditional life of northern Portugal. Then, Rua das Carmelitas, a shopping street that will take you to the Livraria Lello & Irmão (bookshop – entrance not included) a monument of neo-Gothic architecture, with its white and ornamented facade, Livraria Lello is considered the third most beautiful bookshop in the world. Lunch in a local restaurant. We will then continue to the Street of Santa Catarina. A partly pedestrian street, very lively and known for its many shops one of the most sumptuous and traditional cafes of Porto, Le Majestic (entrance not included). You will have free time for your personal discoveries or shopping. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 5. – 26-09-2019 – FÁTIMA / LISBON / MALTA (B, L)
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure towards Lisbon. Visit the church of St Anthony and hear mass. Lunch in a local restaurant. After lunch you will visit the old and monumental LISBON, capital of the world in the 15th century. You will visit the Belém district, also called “Treasure Island” between the Tagus River and the sounds of the city. It was from Belém that departed the caravels for the Portuguese Discoveries. You will visit the church of the Jerónimos Monastery (built as a gesture of appreciation for the return of Vasco da Gama from India), the splendor of Art Manuélin and the Belém Tower (exterior). To end this day, we invite you to enjoy a “Pastel de belém” pastry.
At approximately 19h00, transfer to Lisbon airport.
