Go alfresco with a glass of Barbaresco in the sun soaked region of Piedmont.
Well-known for its rich cultural heritage and fine wines, Piedmont is a ‘must see’ place for all true wine lovers.
Piedmont is not only the ideal place to sozzle your senses with a glass of the red stuff, it also offers a variety of historical – and edible – attractions. From the truffle market in Alba to the Castle of Grinzane Cavour, Piedmont has something for everyone.
When it comes to food there is much you can learn from the flavoursome delights created in the Piedmont region. Have a pass at making pasta or undertake to bake grissini – and don’t forget that where there is cheese, there is always wine!
When it comes to nightlife, Piedmont certainly has a fruity nose, dance with the Dolcetto or go solo without the Barolo; the evenings offer you time to unwind and enjoy the wine you have been tasting or time to simply sit back and relax.

We will drive on to Langhe region visiting an authentic wine cellar. This will be accompanied by a sumptuous light lunch and wines prepared by the Marrone family.
Agricola GianPiero Marrone is a family owned company, for four generations the family dedicated passion and love to the works in the vineyards . Today the three sisters, Denise, Serena and Valentina continue this family legacy by producing some of the finest wines in the region. Following lunch and and wine tasting we will go to Castello Barolo D’Alba, where we visit WiMu– the Wine Museum of Barolo. Touring through five floors of the Castle traversing the history of wine, we arrive in the Regional Enoteca of Barolo in the old cellars of the family.
Optional we can just visit the Enacoteca and go AROUND BAROLO IN 32 LABELS – Taste and discover the Barolo wine through a “sensory journey” and choose freely according to personal taste and preferences: this is the ambitious goal of “AROUND BAROLO IN 32 LABELS”, the new project oh the Enoteca Regionale del Barolo that comes in every day to taste up to 32 Barolo wines, different vintage and producer, but above all for production area and organoleptic characteristics.
Sunday 15th October 2017
On the second day of our stay, after breakfast we will transfer to the picturesque town of Alba, where we will explore the historical centre and the Tartufo (Truffle) Market. Celebrating one of the world’s most prized culinary treasures.
Italy’s most famous – and ancient – truffle festival, the International Alba White Truffle Fair takes place every year in Piedmont between early October and late November . It’s a great chance to learn and taste the Tuber magnatum, i.e. the white truffle mainly found in the Langhe and Montferrat areas of Piedmont, and, most famously, in the countryside around the cities of Alba and Asti. Costing between $6,000 to $10,000 per pound, the aromatic tartufi bianchi are among the most expensive foods in the world. White truffles cannot be cultivated; growing underground near the roots of oak trees, they are hunted by trained dogs and pigs.
The magic of the Middle Ages continues with “Il Borgo si Rievoca” commemorates with games for the public and re-enactors ready to relive and reconstruct in the town streets and squares bits from the past, scenes of ancient everyday life, habits, costumes and crafts. It will be a big celebration meant to “narrate” the Middle Ages through their activities, by taking visitors into an atmosphere that will combine history and tradition as well as excellent food and the desire to taste local products in a unique medieval setting. At Alba, lunch will be optional.
At around 15.00 hours we will transfer to the Roero Region to visit Cascina Chicco a unique and welcoming Wine Cellar that is a tribute to the Roero and its great wines where we will tour the cellars and finish with Tasting 5 Wines.
Cascina Chicco values did not allow ourselves to be content with planting a few hectares around our houses and growing just the varieties in demand on the market. No, we went in search for the best pieces of land that would give us the highest quality grapes for those areas: Arneis in Canale, Barbera in Castellinaldo, Nebbiolo in Vezza and Castagnito.
This day will end at around 17.30 hours, after which we will go back to the hotel for a rest. Optional dinner will be held at typical piedmontese restaurant.
Monday 16th October 2017
On the third day, we will check-out from the hotel after breakfast and take a transfer to the Truffle Factory, one of the most prestigious shops and gourmet outlets in Italy. Their Truffle specialities are appreciated in top class restaurants and gourmet shops all over the world. Here we can taste some samples and experience a hunt for truffles with dogs. We will obviously allow you enough time to shop for various truffle products!
At approx. 11.00 hours we depart from Tartuflanghe and transfer to Fontana Fredda, in the heart of the Langhe, a world of hills dating back to ancient times and a winery that boasts 155 years of history, made up of work, passion, respect for the land and culture of taste. We will have a guided tour of the cellars concluding with (including Barbaresco and Barolo).
We leave behind us Fontana Fredda and take a transfer to the Distillery Santa Teresa where we will visit the complex and have the opportunity to taste the prestigious Marolo Grappas. Paolo Marolo is the inspired orchestrator of grappa distillation, arranging harmonies and flavours through sensitive balancing of technology and passion. Marrying tradition with modernity Marolo shows great ability in creating an artful fusion of the finest quality. We will have the opportunity of tasting various excellent Grappa accompanied by local delicacies such as chocolates and panettone.
At around 16.15 hours we take transfer to Turin, check-in at the Hotel in the centre of the city. Rest of the day free for shopping, museums or simply discover the beautiful city, once the capital of Italy.
Tuesday 17th October 2017
